How to read your property report page

The order a report's sections appear in, and what a dash means when a field is blank.

The order the page follows

A report opens with three headline numbers: municipal valuation, extent, and the last registered sale price. Below that, the page runs in this order:

  • Parcel boundary — the property’s surveyed outline on the map

  • Property — deeds office, municipality, registration division and zoning

  • Building — room configuration, general information, other features

  • Registered owners

  • Transfer history — the full chain of sales, newest first

  • Deeds documents

  • Nearby sales

  • Satellite and cadastral imagery

What a dash means

Some fields on a report show “—” instead of a value. That means the report carries that field, but the deeds office returned nothing for it on this property — not that something went wrong. The building section shows this most often: those fields exist on every report and are filled in only when the deeds office holds the detail.

Reading the transfer history

Transfers run newest at the top, oldest at the bottom — the chain of ownership in the order it actually happened, each entry with its price, its registration date and, where recorded, who sold to whom.
