Why owner ID numbers are hidden by default
What findproperly withholds from a report by default, and why.

What’s withheld
The deeds office returns a property owner’s South African ID number in full. findproperly does not show it on a report by default.
Why
A South African ID number is not only an identifier. Its first six digits are a date of birth, and the rest carries a gender marker and a citizenship marker. Nothing in a property report needs any of that to answer who owns a property.
What identifies the owner instead
The owner’s name and the deeds office document number appear on every report. Together, they already identify who is on the title deed.
Where this applies
This is a product setting, not a summary of the law. For the legal detail on what findproperly collects and why, see the privacy policy at findproperly.co.za/privacy.
