Why we ask what a search is for
What the search purpose dropdown records, and why it's required before you pull a property report.

A required field, not friction
Before you pull a report, you choose why you’re pulling it:
Listing appraisal
Buyer due diligence
Seller mandate
Valuation
Other
This is a compliance record required by the deeds data supplier agreement. It is not used for marketing and it is not shared beyond that record.
It’s remembered
Your last choice is remembered and pre-filled the next time you search, so you are not asked again on every search. You can change it before any search where the reason is different.
What happens if you don’t choose one
A report cannot be pulled until a purpose is selected. There is no default value and no way to skip the field.
